Faith & Flourishing: A Journal of Karam Fellowship invites scholars to submit articles and essays to be considered for publication in our peer-reviewed journal.
Our Vision
F&F’s editorial vision is expressed in our essay, “Why We’re Here: Theology for the Life of the World,” by our Founding Editorial Board. God made the world to participate in the holy love that God is, in the Trinity, and there is no hope for real and lasting peace, power, justice or joy outside that divine communion. God reveals himself – not just in the distant past, but today – in order to invite a dark and sinful world back into the light of his holy love – not just in the distant future, but today. Theology’s primary purpose is to help people accept this invitation. In other words, the flourishing of human beings and the whole creation is central, not peripheral, to the gospel of Jesus Christ; and the gospel of Jesus Christ is central, not peripheral, to the flourishing of human beings and the whole creation.
What We Publish
We invite scholars to submit articles and essays to be considered for publication in our peer-reviewed journal. We seek both original scholarly work and informed scholarly reflection that applies theological knowledge to understand and cultivate authentic flourishing in the world. To get a sense of how wide our scope is, consider the topics in our most recent published issue:
—The importance of pursuing flourishing in ordinary relationships and experiences, as opposed to the narcissism of the modern “cult of the extraordinary”
—How scholars can address flourishing well under the intense pressures of political polarization
—Strengths and weaknesses in Kathryn Tanner’s theology of economics
—The tension between the spiritual equality of all vocations and the special relationship that some vocations have to God’s working of redemptive grace
—The emergence of virtue as a central concern in evangelical ethics, theology and biblical studies
—How contemporary film reflects on the human condition in theologically significant ways
Don’t see your topic here? Don’t worry! We are looking for theological work on everything from justice and vocation to ecclesiology and missiology to mercy and beauty. If it draws on theological knowledge and it’s about flourishing, give us a try (and feel free to reach out with questions).
We publish material in three categories:
- Articles: Traditional peer-reviewed journal articles contributing to scholarly knowledge
- Essays: Curated reflections that contribute to theological insight in light of scholarly knowledge
- Conversations: Cultivated exchanges among contributors on important theological questions
F&F accepts submissions for articles and essays. Conversations are solicited by the editors.
We welcome submissions in all academic disciplines, whether the disciplines of the theological academy or theologically-informed scholarship in the liberal arts and professions. Interdisciplinary work is warmly welcomed, as is work within existing disciplines (in any part of the academy) that is theologically informed and focuses on the flourishing of humanity and all creation.

If you would like to submit to our journal, please read the Call for Papers carefully and ensure that your submission conforms to our criteria, then send us your submission via the process described.

What to Expect After You Submit
You should receive an initial acknowledgement of our receipt of your submission within two weeks. Feel free to follow up if you do not.
Submissions are subject to an initial desk review by the editor, followed by double-blind peer review, conducted by reviewers in the discipline(s) appropriate to the submission. Articles are evaluated by peer reviewers for all publication criteria (the criteria are specified in the Call for Papers). For essays, reviewers evaluate whether the submission meets high academic standards; other publication criteria are evaluated by the editor.
Please allow up to three months for an editorial decision on your submission, which will be one of the following possibilities:
- Accepted: The submission is accepted for publication as is. We may send you comments and suggestions from our reviewers in case you find them helpful, but it is your choice whether to make any revisions to your submission in response to these comments before we publish it.
- Conditionally Accepted: The submission is accepted for publication, on condition that you make specific changes to it. We will be as precise as we can be in specifying the needed changes, to make the process of getting to final acceptance as efficient and painless as possible for all.
- Declined: We cannot accept all submissions, and we are concerned that “revise and resubmit” processes can lead to inefficient investments of time and effort. So if we cannot specify in a precise way what changes you could make that would get us to final acceptance quickly, we will decline your submission so you can consider other options for your piece in a timely way.
Submissions that are accepted for publication are subject to copy editing. We will send you the final version after copy editing to give you a chance to check it over for any problems before it is published.
